Chapter 5 Justice Is Served

The silence in the grand marble foyer was tense and heavy.
Richard turned his furious gaze directly toward his treacherous wife.
Victoria: Richard, please let me explain, it was an accident!
Richard: Shut your mouth and do not come near my family again!
Richard stepped forward and confronted Victoria with intense authority.
He could not believe he had trusted such a cold-hearted person.
Richard: You only married me for my wealth and this mansion.
Victoria: That is not true, I love you, Richard!
Richard: You almost destroyed my son's life today!
Richard signaled to the two uniformed police officers standing near the entrance.
The officers moved forward quickly and grabbed Victoria's arms firmly.
Police Officer: Ma'am, you are under arrest for child endangerment.
Victoria: Get your hands off me, do you know who I am?!
The metallic sound of handcuffs clicking rang clearly through the hall.
Victoria struggled against the officers' tight grip, but it was completely useless.
They began escorting her toward the front doors of the home.
Victoria: Richard, you will regret this decision forever!
Richard: The only thing I regret is bringing you into this house.
The police officers led the screaming stepmother outside into the waiting police car.
The heavy front doors slammed shut behind them, restoring complete peace.
Richard immediately knelt down on the cold marble floor next to his son.
He wrapped his strong arms around little Leo and held him tightly.
Tears filled the father's eyes as he kissed the boy's forehead lovingly.
Richard: I am so sorry I failed to protect you, my dear boy.
Leo: It is okay, Dad, Sarah saved me from getting hurt.
Richard stood up and turned to face the brave domestic worker.
He took Sarah's hand and squeezed it with deep gratitude.
Richard: I can never thank you enough for saving my child today.
Sarah: I promised his mother I would always keep him safe, sir.
Richard: You are more than an employee, you are family to us.
Richard promised to hire a strong legal team to handle the divorce.
He would ensure that Victoria received nothing from his estate or trust fund.
He doubled Sarah's monthly salary on the spot as a token of appreciation.
Leo held his father's hand and smiled brightly for the first time in months.
