Chapter 5 - The Ultimatum
The sounds of a brutal, silent scuffle echoed from the stairwell as Alexander’s men easily neutralized the threat.
Alexander walked back into the hospital room, locking the heavy wooden door firmly behind him.
Chloe looked up, her eyes red from crying, totally unaware of the violent war happening right outside.
"Why are you helping me?" she asked softly, wrapping her arms around her own waist.
Alexander looked at the sleeping mother on the bed, and then straight into Chloe's beautiful, confused eyes.
"Because your real last name isn't Miller, Chloe; it's Sinclair."
He spent the next hour explaining the dark, twisted truth about her family's hidden identity and the assassins hunting them.
Chloe refused to believe it at first, until she saw the matching crest on a document he pulled up on his tablet.

"Marry me today, become a Sterling, and my empire will keep you both completely untouchable."
