Chapter 14

The consequences did not arrive in one dramatic night.

They came over months.

Damien faced financial charges connected to unauthorized payments, false vendor arrangements, and company funds used for personal purposes.

The vehicle investigation remained separate.

Experts could not prove he caused Elena’s crash.

They could establish that he knew about the serious safety warning and concealed records afterward.

That truth became part of the investigation even when the larger question remained difficult to prove.

Bianca faced consequences for what happened to Rosalie and Livia.

Wedding staff had witnessed enough of the kitchen incident to corroborate Rosalie.

Livia’s account remained consistent.

Bianca’s own later statements damaged her denials.

She was barred from contact with Livia while the case proceeded.

The engagement disappeared from her public life almost as quickly as the wedding decorations had disappeared from the estate.

Alessandro faced his own case.

He had punched Damien.

He had slapped Bianca.

Neither became legal simply because he had been furious.

He accepted responsibility rather than forcing witnesses to defend him.

The decision shocked people who knew him.

It should not have.

For the first time, Alessandro understood that protecting Livia required more than hurting the person who hurt her.

She had to grow up knowing anger did not decide the rules.

The Rizzano businesses changed too.

Damien’s removal exposed how much authority had been concentrated in a handful of people.

Alessandro brought in outside oversight.

Employees received direct channels to report problems without passing through senior family associates.

Daniel remained head of security.

Michael took greater control of vendor approvals.

And Alessandro stopped allowing anyone to use the sentence:

“Alessandro already approved it.”

If he approved something, there would be no need to guess.

Rosalie left the estate three weeks later.

Livia gave her a small box.

Inside was one white silk flower saved from the ruined wedding decorations.

“Because you were supposed to see pretty flowers that day,” Livia said.

Rosalie cried.

Alessandro looked away to give her privacy.

Before leaving, Rosalie handed him something.

The electric clippers.

Investigators had returned them after documenting the kitchen incident.

“I don’t want these,” he said.

“Neither do I.”

He stared at them.

Then he placed them in the trash.

Not dramatically.

No speech.

No ceremony.

Just a small machine disappearing beneath ordinary kitchen garbage.

Livia watched.

May you like

“Good,” she said.

Alessandro agreed.
